Five Parsecs Bug Hunt

Five Parsecs Bug Hunt 5 Parsecs Bug Hunt is a stand alone set of eules based on the 5Parsecs From Home solo RPG skirmish rules. You do not need any other NWG products to play this game. Everything you need to play is contained within this set -Bug Hunt. However, i highly recommend checking out ALL other NWG titles, they are full of great rules and inspiration that can be used across the different rule sets that you can plug and play to your hearts content. On with the review. As always with Nordic Weasle Games, the rules layout is excellent, logical, and eady to follow. Where alot of shiny over produced photo heavy expensive rule sets lose themselves and leaves the players scratching their head, tryinv to hunt down a single sentence of rules lost in 10 pages of guff, there is no fear of this happening with NWG titles, and Bug Hunt is no different. Following from one proper read through, i set up a game with my newly painted, based, and varnished figures, and after just a few turns, i felt completely a...

The Natives Are Restless Tonight

The Natives Are Restless Tonight Clear to read and prepare. Excellent fun to play. Got this and had an enjoyable time making cardboard models of the buildings for the compound following the instructions provided, creating card minis for the game, making up sets of mealie bag walls etc. The booklet shows you how to lay out the compound, provides a good rundown of what forces are required, starting positions etc. The cards provided were nicely designed with the effects explained in clear and obvious manner and Union flag backs. We printed them and put them in collectible card game sleeves to make a deck. However the game can be played using ordinary playing cards and the explanation on how to do this was clear. The rules were explained well and helped two novices to run the game successfully on the first run-through. My Zulus were defeated and an excellent time was had by both participants and spectators. The game was greeted with enthusiasm We will run the Rorkes Drift scenario through again and in addition the bookl...

Electronic Advanced Squad Leader Rulebook Well done. I had previously created my own digital version of it, but the ability to have the latest errata updated and the links have made my personal verions obsolete. Well worth getting. Haven't had any technical issues with it.

FEAR OF THE DARK skirmish wargame
by Mica D.

FEAR OF THE DARK skirmish wargame Constantly referencing charts and flowcharts makes this game too slow, boring and predicable. In my opinion, flowcharts do not facilitate a fast paced or interesting game so I recommend getting rid of those. The whole pdf feels like more effort was put into taking good photos rather than designing an enjoyable game. I also recommend finding a good proof reader and editor. As it stands this was a very disappointing purchase.

Knyghte Pyke and Sworde

Knyghte Pyke and Sworde This is a simple but clever Mass skirmish game for medieval warfare. Something sort of unique about it is you don't get into equipping troops. Just general unit types, like Light, Shield, Charger, Missile. Makes list building a breeze. The dice system is pretty simple too. Usually your rolling 2d6 in order to detirmine outcomes, and if you fail once something bad happens. Fail twice something worse happens. This is my favorite game for running my Fantasy armies quickly and easily without getting out for a full mass battle. Can't wait for the fantasy supplement coming out which should be a huge book of goodies. Full disclosure I have been in contact with the author on development of this game. Ivan is a stand out dude, and loves to continue support for his games based on input from fans of his games....

One Page WWII: Tank War Ardennes A really fun and simple game. I had more fun with this than I had with some solitaire titles which cost me 100$. I hope for more games in the "One Page WW2" series!

Fantastic Battles

Fantastic Battles **Fast,Fun and Furious! Fantastic!** Well, there are battles, there are fantasy battles and now there are Fantastic Battles. Written by Nic Wright and published by Irregular Wars, Fantastic Battles promise just that, battles that can be set in any fantasy world, even historical, that are in themselves fantastic! The rules are well written and easy to pick up. The book is set out in a logical order, has lots of photos and some superb cartoonery by Orestix. The various tables are sensible, logical and well laid out making the game easy to play once you have the principles. I found the quick reference sheet was more than adequate for most situations. Nic sets out his central tenets for the game in his introduction and the game seems to live up to all of them. They are… **It is setting and scale agnostic.** You can use any of your existing armies, from any period and any scale. The basic unit is the company mounted on a war base of set size, usually between 4-6 cm square. Up to four ma...

Starships Came by this rules set after finding the author's website when looking for some painting tips. Nicely written and well laid out this ruleset majors on movement, which lets face it in many other spaceship games are pretty pedestrian. For sanity sake this probably limits games to 3-4 maneuver groups per player if that's important to you, but unlike most spaceship games they don't play themselves and there is actually some thinking / decision making to do once fleet building is done. Reminds me a little of Voidstiker but much simplified weapons & combat which is no bad thing really. Can't really go wrong for the price, although being a lazy bum I'd have liked some more sample ships / fleets. ...

AT LANCES POINT Living Rulebook

AT LANCES POINT Living Rulebook Good idea, not so good execution. Some rules are not very clear, and others seem over-complicated. As the only forum to discuss or clarify rules is a Facebook group, those of us that do not have a Facebook account are unable to seek clarifications (publisher was unresponsive when a message was sent through their webpage) The idea of using cards for maneuvering is great, especially as I was aiming at solo play and the cards can act as the opponent's AI, but the rules need some additional work (The language is confusing sometimes... and I used to play DBA!) Not for me, unfortunately....

Vulcania The Role-Playing Game

Vulcania The Role-Playing Game **It’s just… Fun. Really really fun! ** I have had some experience as a player in this and other RPGs, but Vulcania is the first actual manual I have purchased and the first RPG in which I find myself mastering, and the first sessions were wonderful, I had no particular problems in understanding the rules, there is a large amount of ready-made material with which even a rookie like me is “protected” and can run the session smoothly, especially the fights do not lose pace (also avoid "unsatisfactory" moments: success in hit, but rolling very little damage) while the Opportunities and the Gears of Fate manage to create delicious cinematic moments even while playing with first-time players, the setting offers a wide range of ideas for possible stories and the management/acquisition of the Arts offers the PCs a very personal development, moreover, thanks to some tricks it is easy to "convert" into Vulcania elements taken from other RPGs or exterior sources, icing on the...
